Children in the Peruvian Highlands - When trekking
in the mountains it's common to cross small children, some
of whom could not be older than five or six that are on their
way to school or to help their parents in the fields. They
had an intensity in their eyes that I have never seen before
- perhaps because at such a young age they are, in many way,
already adults.
I will never forget hiking in three inches of snow in my boots
and wool socks, and every child I saw was in sandals and bare
feet. |
