Costa Rica has 100 miles of coastline. The fishing village
of Montezuma is on the Nicoya Peninsula; there's a number
of peaceful beaches in the vicinity.
Climate
Costa Rica's dry season is November to April, and the rainy
season is roughly April to November.
Highlights
Costa Rica has a strict eco-friendly policy and the coastline
isn't marred by big tourist developments. The beaches are
clean, but on the Pacific side the volcanic sand is black
rather than golden. You can camp on the beach and wake up
to a sea view. It only costs a couple of dollars, but make
sure your gear isn't left unattended.
- Bathe in tropical waterfalls
A short stroll along the beach takes you to mountain streams,
waterfalls and pools where you can take a dip.
- Visit the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve
This nature haven, just a few miles from Montezuma, is home
to howler monkeys and a variety of other animal and bird species.
