Where to Stay: Castle Cave, Jamaica

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to live in a medieval castle overlooking the ocean? The Blue Cave Castle (or Castle Cave Hotel), will give you a taste of this fantasy.
The Castle Cave is an inexpensive, small Jamaican hotel. All the rooms are different & very large, with verandas big enough for a small party, and you can also enjoy showers in caves down by the crashing sea.

The hotel is very quiet and peaceful, and is very similar to an old film set from Ivanhoe. The property was actually bought by a New Yorker in 1974, and the castle was then gradually built. You can see breathtaking & fantastic views high atop the castle cliffs of Negril.

Every morning there are a few fishermen who paddle out to check their lobster traps at sunrise. When the sun becomes very hot, you can walk down the long stairway to the ocean, the cliffs provide very good snorkelling. Later, you can watch the sunset from your balcony or one of the Cliffside bars down the street. If you can live without fancy amenities, the Blue Cave Castle is a very quaint & romantic place to stay in Negril.
