This medieval castle has an extraordinary history, which will
intrigue visitors with a passion for the spooky.
What's the history here?
The castle was built between 1325 and 1352 by a Norman Knight
named Thomas Delucey. Delucey's demise came at the
Battle of Shrewsbury in 1402. He was on the losing side and
ended by having his head chopped off. His wife, Maud Delucey,
threw herself out of the window when she heard of her husband's
death. Her ghost is said to haunt the castle to this day.
