Has anyone been into Iran, and travelled around recently? I hate to believe the American propoganda about this country. The few people I have spoken to who have previously visited Iran loved it, said it was the undiscovered jewel of the region, with fantastic hospitality. I am travelling to Tehran & possibly down south to Ahwaz for business in a few weeks, any tips, updates, where to eat, where to stay, etc.... Thanks.

I'm assuming that your travels have long gone, but yes, Iran indeed is a wonderful country to go to. I'm not sure how much time you had there, but going from north to South I would recommend the followng:

Esfahan 3 days - lots to see and do, good for souvenir shopping
Shiraz 2 days - Perspolis, gardens, poets...
Yazd 1 day old desert city
Ahwaz 2 days on top of your business things to see Choqa Zanbil and Shuh and Shushtar
Tehran - 2-3 days museums, mountains, shopping

With more time you could go to Masuleh and the Caspian sea and trekking and climbin in the Alborz mountain range.

Cheers

Is it possible to visit Bam these days? And if so, is there still a lot to see? And what about the state of the citadel? It's SO tragic what happened during the earthquake and I've read they're rebuilding it, but I would imagine that'll take years to complete.
