| Has anyone been into Iran, and travelled around recently? I hate to believe the American propoganda about this country. The few people I have spoken to who have previously visited Iran loved it, said it was the undiscovered jewel of the region, with fantastic hospitality. I am travelling to Tehran & possibly down south to Ahwaz for business in a few weeks, any tips, updates, where to eat, where to stay, etc.... Thanks. |

I'm assuming that your travels have long gone, but yes, Iran indeed is a wonderful country to go to. I'm not sure how much time you had there, but going from north to South I would recommend the followng:
Esfahan 3 days - lots to see and do, good for souvenir shopping
Shiraz 2 days - Perspolis, gardens, poets...
Yazd 1 day old desert city
Ahwaz 2 days on top of your business things to see Choqa Zanbil and Shuh and Shushtar
Tehran - 2-3 days museums, mountains, shopping
With more time you could go to Masuleh and the Caspian sea and trekking and climbin in the Alborz mountain range.

| Is it possible to visit Bam these days? And if so, is there still a lot to see? And what about the state of the citadel? It's SO tragic what happened during the earthquake and I've read they're rebuilding it, but I would imagine that'll take years to complete. |
