Background to
the course
Architect:
Jack Nicklaus, built in 1994
Type:
Parkland
Landscape:
Play a relaxing game within breathtaking scenery with
trees and lakes surrounding the fairway and greens,
although serenity can be disrupted by the nearby Self
Defence Force Air base if they are on practice. Cut
out of the Kogama Forest, the course lies almost flat,
with only a four meter variation between its highest
and lowest points. |

Playing the
Course
The 7,071 yard Ishioka is a beautiful new parkland
course near Tokyo which was voted best public golf course
in Japan for 2002 and 2003 by Par Golf, Golf Digest,
and the JGTO. Ishioka is dominated by tight fairways
closed in by mature trees. Nicklaus added to the challenge
by placing some heavy rough in key areas around the
course. Areas of water on the course, as well as vast
bunkers, add to the hazard count. |
