image: Ria Bintan golf course, 6th hole

Background to the course

Architect:
Opened in 1988, the 36-hole championship golf course was designed by Gary Player.

Type:
Ocean Parklands

Landscape:
Built on the coast of Bintan Island, the 18-hole Ocean Course provides panoramic views of windswept beaches, while the other 18-hole brings golfers into the mature woodlands of the Forest Course.

Course facts:
- Ria Bintan is widely known as the best golf course on Bintan Island
- Ria Bintan has made it to the official ranking of the Top 100 golf Courses published by Golf Digest Magazine
- Ria Bintan clinched first runner-up awards in the Asian Golf Monthly Awards 2000 for Best Golf Resort in Asia, Best Course in Indonesia and Best Par 4 in Asia.
- For luxury accommodation, the club partners with Club Med Ria Bintan - a beachfront resort with 302 rooms and a private beach.

Playing the Ocean Course

Taking your eyes off the captivating scenery will be a challenge at the Ria Bintan, and the Gary Player designed course is no walk in the park. The most scenic and challenging hole is the par three ninth where players have to drive over a sea inlet. The inherent natural beauty of the mature woodland and windswept beaches have been retained and enhanced to bring visitors closer to nature.
