Other Recommended Courses

Lost
Canyons
With two championship standard courses, which
are both open to the public and relativity cheap
to play. Designed by Pete Dye and Fred Couples
on Scottish links-style courses, they are both
a great test of golf and a must to visit if
you are in LA.
Oak
Valley Golf Club
Halfway between L.A. and Palm Springs, Oak Valley
is not to be missed. It is not expensive, the
greens are faster than most desert courses,
and the breathtaking backdrop of the San Gorgonio
and San Jacinto mountains comes highly recommended.
Pelican
Hill Golf Club
Both courses at Pelican Hill consistently, and
justifiably, get rave reviews from the golfing
press who consider them to be the best public
golf facilities in Southern California. Any
keen golfer will think he has died and gone
to heaven.
Torrey
Pines
No golf tour of Southern Californian would be
complete without playing Torrey Pines. Both
seaside courses are among the premier public
golf facilities in the country and really worth
the trip if you are not on a tight budget. A
young upstart called Tiger Woods made the trip
and won the Optimist Junior World Tournament
here when he was only 15.
