Where to stay
London
The Soho Hotel
Some of the world's finest hotels are found in London,
so it can be rather overwhelming when it comes to choosing
somewhere to stay. If you want to be based right in
the heart of the West End, choose the Soho Hotel.
The sumptuous Soho Hotel, the only five-star establishment
in Soho, was until 2005 a multi-storey car park. Conceived
and built by Kit Kemp of Firmdale Hotels
(who also own The Covent Garden and Charlotte
Street Hotels), this is an oasis of calm in the
very centre of London. Favoured by the rich and famous,
The Soho is expensive, but worth every penny.
Refuel in the brasserie and bar on the ground floor
of the hotel with excellent food and some of the best
cocktails anywhere in the capital. Popular on every
night of the week, it gets as many outside visitors
as guests.

Sandwich
Bell Hotel
The best hotel in Sandwich, and the closest establishment
to Royal St. George's Golf Club, is the historic
Bell Hotel. The Bell is closely linked to Royal
St. George's as the club held its meetings here for
many years.
The Bell has been an important centre of Sandwich life
since Tudor times. A Bell Inn has existed on The Quay
since around 1300 AD. It is situated adjacent to the
Barbican Gate and Toll and overlooks what would have
been the harbor, but is now the River Stour. The majority
of the present listed building dates from the nineteenth
century. Today, with its 34 en-suite bedrooms, a Georgian
regency room catering for up to 120 guests, the Stour
Conference Suite overlooking the river, a brasserie
with a menu specializing in local produce and two bars,
that importance is set to continue as The Bell undergoes
a program of refurbishment and restoration.
