In this trek, Megan McCormick discovers the hidden treasures of the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic. From the history of the slave trade to the delights of the Caribbean Sea, this trek will explore the adventurous nature of this paradise island. This was the first island to import slaves from Africa, to work in the sugar cane fields for the new world. Megan meets the descendents of those slaves, and attends a voodoo ritual - a remnant of African belief. She also climbs the highest mountain in the Caribbean - Pico Duarte, and visits a witch doctor and is given a voodoo spell for protection on her trek.
