Presenter: Megan McCormick
In this programme, Megan McCormick
starts in the beautiful arid north of Kenya, where
she travels by camel with the Samburu
people, learning their nomadic ways as she goes.
The Samburu, who look very much like the Masai,
teach Megan the ways of the nomad - how to find
water, their culture and traditions. She is even
party to an initiation ceremony for the statuesque
young warriors, which involves lots of dancing
and goats blood! From Samburuland it's
on to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy,
where Megan heads out on patrol to track the endangered
rhino, which is being protected
by the wildlife rangers in the bush. Finally,
Megan heads to Mount Kenya, to
climb one of Africa's most majestic mountains.
Mount Kenya is Africa's second highest mountain
and Megan, along with her guide KG and numerous
porters, learns that a trek to the top is truly
one of the most fulfilling things she's ever done.
