Having served as China’s capital for nearly one thousand years, Beijing has exerted an increasingly important influence on the world stage in accordance with China’s ascendancy. One of the largest cities in the world, it is known for its modern infrastructure, burgeoning technology industry and historical legacy, the latter epitomised by landmarks such as the Forbidden City, Tienanmen Square and the Temple of Heaven.
