One of Indonesia’s most notable islands, Sumatra is well-known for its incredible biodiversity. Home to a number of species endemic to the island, such as the critically endangered Sumatran tiger, many of these animals are under extreme threat due to major deforestation. Despite this, Sumatra remains one of the most beautiful islands in the entirety of Indonesia. With a population of 50 million people, Sumatra is also very culturally diverse, with over 50 languages spoken by its inhabitants.
