Pilot Productions, producer of world-renowned travel and adventure factual programming, has secured a number of sales in several territories, the announcement was made today by Eileen Pesah, Head of Sales at Pilot Productions.
Launched at this year’s MIPCOM 2012 Globe Trekker: Round The World Series (8 x 52’), a miniseries devised to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of its flagship ‘Globe Trekker’ has been acquired by Greek public broadcaster ERT and licensed to Thai pubcaster Thai PBS. The round the world special of epic journeys features some of the most historic travel routes beginning in Washington DC and ending in the old world capital of Vienna. Both companies have also acquired Season Sixteen of the award winning series Globe Trekker (13 x 52’).
Produced in high definition Globe Trekker is a dynamic and stylish series that transports viewers to unforgettable destinations around the world. Each episode documents the journeys of young vibrant travel guides as they sample local delicacies, stay in traditional lodgings and interact with locals in ways that bring these exotic destinations to life.
In addition several deals were also concluded with US cable television network Wealth TV licensing Ottomans vs Christians: Battle for the Mediterranean (6 x 26’), a series revealing the story of the mighty Ottoman Empire, as well as Historic Walks (3 x 26’) which explores some of the world’s most fascinating districts tracing unique and famous footpaths where history was made and Metropolis (4 x 26’) a travel and architectural series offering a guide to the architecture, design, and urban style of some of the most recognizable cities in the world. Slovenia has also shown an adventurous appetite for the company’s factual series with public broadcaster RTV also licensing Ottomans vs Christians: Battle for the Mediterranean.
