Crusaders, Ottomans, Venetians, Moors and European empires all built great fortresses in the Mediterranean which have witnessed epic battles and historic moments over the past thousand years.
We explore these battles, the design and construction of these historic structures and their role in shaping the world. We visit. Crusader forts in Rhodes, Malta and the Levant, Ottoman forts in Greece, Venetian forts in Crete, Moorish forts in Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Algeria, and Portuguese and Spanish forts on the North African coast.
