Great Railway Journeys of Europe – Oslo To Bergen

Norway-Map

In this episode, Historian Julian Davison visits Norway, where he explores the small but perfectly formed capital Oslo, before boarding the super fast intercity express train towards the countries second city, Bergen.

Julian travels up into the ice fields, across the highest point of any European mainline railway.   He then takes a detour onto on one of the most breath taking pieces of track anywhere in the world, called the Flamsbana, transporting him down to the fjords below and a date with some Viking history.

From here he returns to the glacier and continues on to Bergen, where amongst other things, he attends a concert at the home of composer Edvard Grieg.
