Los Angeles’ Top Persian restaurants

Los Angeles is home to the world’s biggest Persian diaspora, with many Persians coming here after the Iranian Revolution.

Unlike many European and East coast destinations, Persians were attracted here in great numbers because of the sunny climate.

Not surprisingly , the city is home to a vibrant Persian food culture including restaurants.

Many are located in Western LA bordering the giant university complex, UCLA

Persian restaurants are proud of their food and most have basic decor .Persian New Year or Nowruz iin March is a great time to visit.

Here are seven of our favourites.

  • Raffi’s Place, Glendale: The food here is excellent and the service amazing
  • Shamshiri. Westwood: In Persian this means the sword, and the restaurant was named after a famous Tehran eatery in the Tehran bazaar . Very efficient service . .
  • Toranje Westwood: Meaning citrus fruit , it’s actually famous for its juicy chicken .Located near the Hammer Museum , it has both outdoor and indoor seating.
  • Shahrzade, Westwood
  • Tehran Ro, Koreatown: Excellent take out
