Yemen

San’a was reputedly founded by Noah’s son Shem after the flood subsided and it vies with Damascus* in claiming to be the longest inhabited city in the world. It’s certainly a remarkably magical and well-preserved city. 

Yemen is steeped in biblical history. According to local tradition, here in Aden is not only where Cain and Abel are buried but from where Noah launched his ark during the great flood.

The island of Socotra. Is the size of New York’s Long Island, . It lies like a big pair of puckered lips, 510km / 316 miles off the mainland, closer to the shores of Somalia than to the Yemeni mainland.
