The Reindeer Herder Festival in Salekhard
Twice a year the Nenets of the Yamal Peninsula migrate 60km across the frozen Ob, a bay of the Arctic Ocean. This intense migration can take up to 24 hours. There is no pasture along the way meaning it’s a race to get to the other side before the reindeer become too weak from a lack of food. There will be no breaks for the herders, the animals or for you. At the end of the crossing we are invited to the annual reindeer herders’ festival in Yar Sale, which will offer a chance to witness some extraordinary events such as reindeer racing and traditional sports.

The Taj Mahal: Monumental Love
The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631 giving birth to his 15th child. It is said that the Emperor was so distraught at her death that his hair turned white overnight.

The Fiesta of San Miguel, Bolivia
Bolivia, in true Latino style, is renowned for its fiesta loving spirit. There seem to be fiestas for every occasion possible, from religious, historical or political events. The Fiesta occurs in a remote town in the Bolivia’s Potosi district once a year on the 29th September when the El Tinku dances to serve as a sacrificial commemoration for the local Indian earth goddess, Pachamama.
