Great French explorers significantly shaped world maps, particularly in North America, with key figures including Jacques Cartier who named Canada, Samuel de Champlain, the “Father of New France” and founder of Quebec City and René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle who explored the Mississippi River,Other notable explorers mapped Africa, the Pacific, and the Antarctic, including Louis Antoine de Bougainville and Jean-Baptiste Charcot.
