When calling out of a country you generally need to dial:

1. An international dialing prefix (also known as international access code) – this varies from country to country, and effectively enables you to dial ‘out’ of the country you’re in. For example, the dialing prefix to call out of the USA is 011, 00 from the UK, or 0011 from Australia. You can read more about international dialing prefixes here.

2. The international country calling code of the location you’re trying to reach

3. Followed by the actual phone number you are trying to call (which will include location-specific area codes for different states and territories in the country you’re calling).
