The Mycenaeans are famous for building dramatic hilltop fortresses like the one at Mycenae in the Peleponnese  and one at nearby Tiryns.

In  Greek society loyalties were focused around one’s polis (city-state). Despite this they were able to unite and defeat the Army and navy of the Persian Empire .

The Corinthian helmet had become standardized due to its successful design, and was often decorated with a horsehair crest.
