Anzac Day

Anzac Day is a Remembrance Day event in Australia and New Zealand commemorating those who lost their lives in war.

Anzacs( Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) we’re a combined force from both countries who fought in the two world wars,

Anzac Day occurs on April 25th each year, the day in 1915 during the First World War when thousands of Anzac soldiers along with those from France and the United Kinggdom
landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey. The aim was to take the Dardenelles Straits the body of water critical to Turkey’s capital Istanbul and its access to the Mediterranean therefore knocking Turkey out of the war.

It was to prove the most costly military event ever for Australia and New Zealand forces when thousands of soldiers lost their lives , many in the first days of the invasion.

On Anzac Day veterans and their survivors march in the major cities to honour the fallen and ceremonies take place at war memorials across the country .

Conflicts from the Boer War, the two World wars, Vietnam , and more recent conflicts in Afganistan and Iraq are remembered
