This is more expensive but more intriguing as the delightful owner Signora Adua is an astrologer and you stay in her apartment. The 5 rooms are enormous (very unusual for Rome) and very clean.

The best thing about this place is the roof-top restaurant which looks over St. Peter’s (especially beautiful at night). The staff here is fantastic – helpful and friendly. There’s a free pick-up service from the airport. It’s just a short walk across the bridge to the historic centre.
Hotel Lord Byron (near the Villa Borghese)
Via G. de Notaris, 5

Here the rooms cost anything from L530,000 for a double to L1,210,000 for a suite!
This place is totally unique. Superb service, very relaxed and casual for such a fancy place and the owner has used his own exquisite furniture throughout. The original paintings are all of women. It’s on the edge of the Villa Borghese so it’s not as easy to reach the historic centre as from some places, but if you can afford to stay here, you can afford a cab! It’s very quiet here.
